In Person 6-Week Teens DBT Skills Group

Is your teen struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or thoughts of suicide? Do they feel overwhelmed by emotions or unsure how to handle stress? Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can help!

DBT is a life-changing, evidence-based therapy that teaches teens how to:

This safe and supportive group is led by expert therapists who will teach real-life skills that teens can use right away to improve their mental health.

Teen DBT Group Curriculum

Week 1 (March 18): Introduction & Learn About Distress Tolerance

Week 2 (March 25): Emotional Regulation

April 1: Spring Break

Week 3 (April 8): Interpersonal Effectiveness

Week 4 (April 15): Rational Thinking & Emotional Experiencing

Week 5 (April 22): Radical Acceptance

Week 6 (April 29): Self-Validation & Behavioral Analysis. Parents will be invited to join the final portion of this session for psycho education on supporting their teens in applying these skills at home.

DBT is ideal for clients with one or more of these emotional experiences:

  • Painful emotions from which a person feels there is no escape

  • A chronic sense of "feeling nothing"

  • Quickly shifting from one emotion to another

  • Feeling like emotions are overwhelming, confusing, or controlling your life

  • Having problems with anger, anxiety, and depression

In addition, DBT addresses the following difficulties:

  • Difficulties in interpersonal relationships

  • Living with a sense of emptiness or feeling like you are confused about who you are

  • Impulsive behavior, suicide attempts, or self-injury

  • Confused or fearful thinking

  • Coping with distress through self-harm, eating, substance use, risky sexual behaviors, or avoiding everything

We offer the following DBT programs:

  • 6-Week Teen Program - For school-aged adolescents from 13+ years old who are hoping to be more effective at school, work, and/or forming relationships.

  • 6-Week Adult Program (TBD) - For adult clients from 18+ years old who are looking for comprehensive and effective care for problems that have been difficult to treat.

How Much?

  • $300 for the entire 6-week program. Insurance is not accepted and no refund will be issued for missed sessions (make up materials will be provided).

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is one of the most effective treatments for emotion regulation difficulties. It has been used with both adolescents and adults for the treatment of self-injury, suicidality, personality disorders, substance use, eating disorders, and several other psychological problems.
